June 19 – Things to do during John’s Tournament weekend around the area…


During  the entire day of John’s Golf Tournament there will be many things for the entire family!You can come early or stay late &/or send the family to enjoy some festivities while you are on the fairway!

Adel (John’s Tournament is 4 miles north of Adel & where we now call home)

2nd Annual Dallas Co. Sheriff’s Office Special Olympics All-Wheel Show –  at the Dallas Co. Fair Grounds
10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

  • 4th Annual Iowa Book Festival – Bringing Books and Book Lovers Together! The Iowa Book Festival is a delight for festival goers with workshops, best-selling authors, and activities for all ages.  The festival will be held in the Adel Public Library the adjacent City Hall and surrounding outdoor grounds.
    11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • All Iowa Wine Festival –  A wonderful way to enjoy a summer evening. The All Iowa Wine Festival features wines from several Iowa wineries. Festival admittance includes a commemorative glass and free samples along with live entertainment at the Adel Community Stage. $10 entry fee 
    4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.



Stuart Good Egg Days Celebration (John’s Mom’s hometown where a lot of his family still lives)

7:00 Breakfast – By Rocks’ Ledge
8:00 Good Egg Run/Walk w Father/Son & Father/Daughter Categories (Registration 7:00 AM City Park)
10:00 – 12:00 – 3 on 3 Basketball Registration for High School thru Adult (Justin Schneider – 515-491-0225)
11:00 Parade – Line-up go to SW 7th & S. Adair St. (Stuart Fire Dept. & Morrison Chev)
12:00 Noon Meal –Lions’ Club (pulled pork sandwiches, chips, beans, hotdogs)
12:00 3 on 3 Basketball tournament games begin – High School thru Adult -Justin Schneider –515- 491-0225
12:00 – 5:00 Sand Pile Treasure Hunt (sponsored by Rolling Hills Bank, First State Bank, First National Bank of Anita )
1:00 Motorcycle Poker Run – Registration at Ruby’s Pub 1-2 PM (Doug Christensen 523-1797)
1:00 Dunk Tank – sponsored by Stuart Fire Dept.
1:00 Ring Toss Game – by Stuart Fire Dept.
1:00 Mel Shivers’ Hands-on Building Projects for Kids – Ages 4 and up – Free

4:00 Food Booth during Pedal Tractor Pulls – WCV Mat Pack

Golf Tournament Details…

With the tournament one week away here’s some more information for you all…

7:00 tee time
Registration will start at 6:15-6:55
there will be 3 line (1) those who have registered & paid (2) those who are registered & need to pay (3) those who need to register & pay

1:00 tee time
Registration begins at 12:00 – 12:55
there will be 3 line (1) those who have registered & paid (2) those who are registered & need to pay (3) those who need to register & pay

**If you have not registered &/or paid please give yourself enough time to do so both your tee time**


Tournament is a Flighted 4-man best shot with cash prize 1st & 2nd place winners in all flights!

Every golfer will be entered to win a door prize. (At registeration you will get a card to sign & put in for the drawing for everything)

Raffle to win Phil Mickelson Autographed Photo, Zach Johnson Autographed Photo & Hat. (1 ticket for $1 or 6 tickets for $5)

Putting green challenge to win 42″ LG Plasma TV, $100 HyVee gift card or complimentary night stay @ Country Inn & Suites.  (1 putt for $5 or 3 putts for $10 – there will be two putts: a short putt giving you 1 chance to win & a long putt giving you 2 chances to win if made!)

TaylorMade Burner Irons ’09 will be a closest-to-pin challenge. ($5 to participate in a chance to win these!)

Other challenges througout course for prizes: Longest Drive, Longest Putt, Inside-the-Flag-Stick, Closest-to-Pin.

We would like to thank everyone involved in Saturday’s 1st Annual Golf Tournament!

We were honored to have all of you come and support our cause! We hope every golfer had a great time! We look forward to having you join us again next year!
