9th John D Gomke Charity Classic is only 2 weeks away

With the 9th John D Gomke Charity Classic only 2 weeks from today we wanted to let everyone know a few things!

First, if you haven’t registered there are still a few spots remaining.
~4 spots for your 4-somes to join during the 7:00am tee time
~8 spots for your 4-somes to join for the 1:30pm tee time.

During the next week we will be confirming your 4-some and tee time.

All golferes please arrive 45 to 60 minutes early to ensure you get signed in and ready to tee off at your registered time.   If you are golfing during the 7:00am session, join us for lunch and prize presentation immediately following your round.  If you are golfing in the 1:30pm session you may want to arrive a little earlier to enjoy lunch donated by Ruby’s Pub.

When you sign in and during the lunch you will be able to purchase raffle tickets to secure a free 4-some to next year’s 10th John D Gomke Charity Classic! Tickets will be $5/ticket, $20/5 tickets and $50/16 tickets.

Party Cove, sponsored by 1st Call BailBonds will be in full swing.  Where you can win a new set of Ping Irons and other prizes with the closest-to-the-pin challenge at $5 a shot. These winners will be announced at the end of the day. Need not be present to win.

All four par 3 holes will have a hole-in-one prize assigned to them.  This is sponsored by the Adel Kiwanis.  At the 5th John D Gomke Charity Classic a golfer made a hole-in-one and won a $500 Visa Gift Card.

Be ready for your photo at John’s Shot.  These always are fun and entertaining to look back on!  At this hole your team can donate $10 and take your second shot from 300 yards out.  You will also recieve a comemorative 9th John D Gomke Charity Classic golf ball at this hole.

Also, back this year is the betting hole! For $5 a shot if you make it inside the circle around the flag stick you will win half of the money in the pot at that time.  Last year someone won half the pot, which equaled $280 for their share.

The putting green will have a challenge on it where you can be entered into a raffle for gift cards, including a $250 gift card to Adel TV & Appliance.

There a couple other hole challenges and pirize for each session.

There will be a silent auction with several great items to bid on. The final bidding and anoucements will take place after the 1:30 session during the award announcements.

We are also excited this year to have Erin, Child Life Specialist for Mercy Children’s Hospital joining us from 10:30 to 1:00 in the banquet hall to share what the John D Gomke Breavement Fund offered breaved parents when they suffer the unamaginable loss of a child at the Mercy Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.

Also this year Russ Jacobson, father of Drew Jacobson, Woodward-Granger’s student athlete who lost his life after collapsing during basketball practice will be with us to talk about the importance of having defibrillators (AEDs) avaiable.

We cannot wait for you to join us!

Please contact us with any questions.  Also, please provide any feedback you may have.  We are always looking to improve and make this a great event for all to enjoy and look forward to coming back to each year!

Watch for the people in the safety green t-shirts around the tournament.  All of these amazing people are giving their time to volunteer to make this event possible.  One way or another their heart has been touched by our mission, and remembering an Angel that they are remembering each and everyday.

Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, golfers and supporters for giving us the opportunity to help families prevent and cope with infant and young child loss, one baby step at a time.
