We have partnered with the City of West Des Moines EMS Association to provide FREE child & infant CPR & 1st Aid training around central Iowa communities
These training will be held for groups of roughly 50 people at a time. There will be 2 people per practice dummy during the trainings.
These will be free will donation trainings. If you would like a card showing you have taken the class it will cost $3 for the card from the state. The certification card is not required.
You can register for training by completing the form below. If you have questions, please contact us at events@johnscharity.org.
On May 15, 2010 we held 2 sessions of CPR, 1st Aid & AED training at the De Soto Fire Station. Thank you to Jenna with the West Des Moines EMS for treaching the classes & the De Soto Fire & Rescue Department for letting us use your facilities!
The 9:00 session certified 24 people!
The 2:00 session certified 18 people!
The people who attended these classes were there for a variety of reason:
*2 Sisters who are pregnant with their first babies were joined by their husbands & all 3 sets of grandparents!
*a Gentleman who had jumped in the river a couple weeks before & saved a teenagers life by pulling him out!
*a couple who are becoming foster parents to pregnant teens!
*parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, etc.
Each person was there for the same purpose with a unique story! I wish I could of heard what made each of them decide to come & more about the different stories. I found it very interesting since I went into this thinking about those who have an new infant at home. I quickly realized there are so many more reasons everyone came! I pray nobody has to ever use the training they were taught that day! But I am also confident each of them will be able to save a life if ever confronted with the unfortunate experience.
Thank you to those of you that took advantage of our class! You gave us so many more reason to ad to our list of “why” we have started this & “why” we should conitue it!
I am sure John was smiling down on us that day!
We are planning on holding our next training at the beginning of August.
