About Our Auction
We are trying something new! Our silent auction that would typically be held during the 11th John D Gomke Charity Classic (JDGCC) is being moved to online. Due to the restrictions of COVID-19 the tournament will look a little different this year. Though we will have these items on display during the JDGCC on June 12th & 13th at Lake Panorama National, we will be hosting the auction here virtually.
We look forward to seeing you virtually! Bidding will start at 10 am on Friday, June 12th, & end on Thursday, June 18th, at 9 pm! There is also a ‘Buy Now’ option for every item, so if you want to guarantee you’re a winner, click that to secure that item at that price. No one else will be able to bid on the item after that. Bid early & often!
DONATIONS:
Don’t see anything you want to buy or bid on? Click the green ‘Donate’ button at the top right of the page. A little over a year ago Steve & I stood in our kitchen, discussing a possible remodel with Mark Behr, owner of Behr Construction. Before he left we told him about John’s Charity. A few weeks later he said he wanted to run an idea by us. We sat in their conference room and Mark shared their idea about building a home and donating all the proceeds to John’s Charity. I don’t know what the look on my face was saying, but I was trying to stay composed, hold back the tears and not run around the table and hug him!
Fast forward to recently. Their idea is a reality. Behr Construction built a beautiful home in Waukee, sold it and where able to donate $8,709.38 to Johns’ Charity!
This donation will make an incredible impact on what John’s Charity can do this year. In the past, we have been able to donate 3 (on average) defibrillators to Central Iowa Schools. This year we will be able to donate 9! Which means, this year we are able to donate what would usually take us 3 years to accomplish.
With overwhelming gratitude, we say thank you to Mark & Shawnda Behr for their generous hearts, which will let us help prevent and educate families and communities around infant and young child loss, one baby step at a time.
